Our wedding reception

Choosing a reception site is another very important part of the wedding planning. After all, that's where you'll be entertaining your guests after that wonderful event takes place.

We decided on the Holiday Inn Select in Garland, TX, since we were having an afternoon reception, and they have a great spread (seems like that's what the one we chose is known for). It cut down on the time that my mother had to spend with this stuff which was a great big change for her from my sister's wedding (not that that wasn't fun for her as well). I hope that everyone liked it as much as we did.

We planned on the reception lasting from about 1:30pm till 5pm, and it worked out just like that. We were out of there around 4:30pm, exhausted and ready to go to the hotel. We had an hors d'oeuvres buffet with punch, beer, tea, etc. The Holiday Inn served the usual cheeses with crackers, finger sandwiches, and fruit, but we added (from their menu, of course) chicken kabobs, mushrooms stuffed with crab meat, deviled eggs, and salami coronets. With all these fancy names, we were expecting something special, and it was, so we were not disappointed. We had the traditional champagne toast, of course. Then there was the wedding cake and a groom's cake (a cheesecake--John's favorite). We had decided earlier not to throw the bouquet or the garter, since we wouldn't have enough single guests at the wedding, so that was not a part of our reception, and no one seemed to miss it. I never did want to do it, so that worked out well.

Everything turned out great! John and I had fun and our guests seemed well fed and happy.
